The new German Federal Water Act [Wasserhaushaltsgesetz WHG] - published on 6th of August 2009 and in force since 1st of March 2010 –
The Act contains significant innovations for the handling of storm water within the sections 54, 55 and 57 [WHG, 2009].
In this version of the German Federal Water Act rainwater, that is collected from areas under roof or paved areas and drained (storm water) is for the first time included into the definition of the waste water term in section 54(1)
Thus, as it is required for wastewater in section 57 paragraph 1, it is also necessary to reduce quantity and harmfulness of the storm water according to the state of the art prior to the sewage disposal.
